Paul Dodd
Paul has been playing drums for over 20 years but in the last 15 he has immersed himself into the authentic Brazilian drumming. He has made a particular study of the cultural roots in Brazilian Carnival music and dance and has travelled extensively to Africa and South America in pursuit of his musical passion.
Silver Sounds was formed in 2003 with Paul being the leader for most of that time. His boundless enthusiasm and energy has been a constant inspiration to the band. This has been reflected in the many Silver Sounds performances around Sussex where the audience, young and old, are encouraged to participate.
With specialist knowledge of Maracatu Carnival music from the North East of Brazil Paul also leads the carnival company “Cruzeiro Do Sul”. A band which consists of over 50 dancers and drummers.
Paul is well known for his drum and dance workshops with many community projects. In particular the many special needs groups, schools, corporate training programmes and global H.I.V. and A.I.D.S. groups.
His specialist knowledge in the field of the Brazilian Carnival has expanded into the bespoke manufacturing of drums, berimbau, shekeres and carnival costumes.
